DANGERS OF DEHYDRATION

Water plays a significant role in our body’s everyday functions that help us concentrate, make decisions, and exercise in ways that move us toward healthy goals. While we may not recognize how water benefits our movements, understanding the importance of drinking enough water when exercising can help make consuming more fluids easier.

The most vital health benefits of drinking water during your workout include the following:

  • Lubricating your joints: Stretching, running, and lifting can come more easily to those who drink enough water before, during, and after exercising. Getting enough fluids into the body can help lubricate our joints so they can move fluidly when working toward a new personal record in the gym.
  • Regulating body temperature: Staying hydrated can keep you from overheating. Sweating and moving quickly can make it easy to feel like your body is warming up. Luckily, drinking water during an exercise can cool you down so you can comfortably finish your goals for the day.
  • Transporting nutrients: Getting in a nutritious meal before exercising is an excellent step in the right direction toward a healthy lifestyle. Drinking water before, during, and after your workout can help the body transport these essential nutrients to your organs so you can feel your best all day long.

During a workout, your body needs water to move and sweat. Without the necessary amount of water, you may experience the following symptoms of dehydration:

  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Anxiety
  • Confusion
  • Extreme thirst
  • Muscle cramps
  • Heat cramps and injuries
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fainting and loss of consciousness
  • High heart rate and low blood pressure

While everyone’s body requires different amounts of water to stay comfortably hydrated based on various physical factors, you should drink enough water before you feel thirsty since these symptoms can affect your daily routine, even after working out.

Superfoods are NOT a new idea. They include some of the oldest living plants on the planet.  They have been used for thousands of years by indigenous people all over the world. Their pharmacological attributes have long been revered by ancient civilizations–and only some of us are beginning to experience the magic and medicine held within them.

I began taking Bright Earth Chlorella  when I found out how very good they are for gum health when I had a gum graft about 10 years ago.

Superfoods are getting the attention of the medical community as their health benefits continue to be proven by research. More and more people are experiencing the extraordinary benefits of these highly specialized, delicious, organic, whole foods. Superfoods are an excellent way to give your body very high quality, high density nutrition, for building a strong foundation for a healthy immune system. They are naturally loaded with micronutrients–which continue to be diminished by our modern farming techniques: poor water quality, soil depletion, chemicals, and GMO contamination.

Bright Earth Products have a variety of super fun raw superfoods to eat and cook with. I trust the company because they provide the very best available.  They carry Himalayan Pink Crystal sea salt, coconut sugar, smoothie mixes and body care products.

Who wouldn’t love delicious  superfood snacks!  Treat yourself!

Natural Aspirin Teatwig tea Choice

1 ¾ cup filtered water
1 bag Twig Tea bag
½ Umeboshi plum or ½ teaspoon plum paste
1 tablespoon Kuzu
2 drops good quality Tamari

Bring the water to a boil in a small stainless steel pot. Turn off the heat and add the tea bag to sumeboshiteep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag. Put the umeboshi in the pot and stir until dissolved. Place the kuzu into a drinking cup with mix 2 tablespoons cool water.  Slowly stir the kuzu and water in the pot and watch it thicken. Pour the thickened tea back into the drinking cup. Add the tamari drops and drink.

This tea is excellent to help relieve fatigue and when you feel like you might be getting a cold and if you already got the cold.

These ingredients are stables in my kitchen and have been for decades. In fact I always take umeboshi  and twig tea bags with me on over night trips.  I can always get some hot water kudzuto steep the tea bag.  And either add a little umeboshi into the tea or right in my mouth if the tea and umeboshi are not in the same place.

Most natural health food stores carry all of the above ingredients. Or order items from Gold Mine Natural Foods.

5 Ways to Improve Our Memory

11822489_10153153597766553_67650649898895692_nThough it seems unnecessary, memorization is important for many reasons beyond being great at trivia night. For one, it disciplines the mind, making it more focused and productive; what you hold in your memory also informs how you think about things, and helps you understand concepts more quickly. By reducing stress, improving your diet, and changing the way you think, you can increase your memory power.

Meditate. Mediate every day for 10 to 15 minutes each day physically changes your brain, making you less anxious, and more rational and empathetic. In addition, research has shown that meditation enhances concentration and improves sleep.

  • The four best times of day to meditate are first thing in the morning, whenever you’re stressed out, on your lunch break, or at the end of your workday.

Do yoga. Besides increasing your physical strength and flexibility, yoga changes your brain. Research suggests that in addition to reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, yoga protects the brain from shrinking with age.

  • Yoga prevents shrinking mainly in the left hemisphere of the brain, which is associated with positive emotions such as joy and happiness.
  • Along with meditating, yoga will also help you be more present or “mindful” in your everyday life.

Laugh. Laughter can improve short-term memory in older adult. It also increases endorphins and boosts the immune system, lowering stress and improving memory amongst all age groups.

  • Watch comedic films or YouTube videos, share jokes with friends, attend a stand-up comedy show — do things that make you laugh on a regular basis.

Drink enough water. The brain is made up of roughly 80% water; when your brain is chronically dehydrated, it does not function properly.

  • Drink more water on days where you sweat more, from exercise or hot weather.

Eat whole grains. Eating whole grains promotes cardiovascular health, which promotes blood flow throughout the entire body, including the brain. Aim for 1/2 cup of whole-grain cereal a day.
