Patricia Becker promotes the joys of yoga for seniors with mindful movement and Chair Yoga. Chair Yoga for seniors is practiced while seated in a chair, and uses a chair for support during standing poses. We use gentle stretches, twists, and poses, to help improve flexibility, balance, and circulation.

Seniors Chair yoga is a safe and convenient way to improve your physical and mental health with 30 minutes of low-impact exercises, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and sense of humor.

Did you know you have over 20 muscles that cross the hip?

A collection of inner thigh muscles known as the adductors, the collection of outer thigh muscles known as the abductors, the hip flexors in front, deep lateral rotators in back, and more. 

Tight hips affect your ability to simply bend over to pick up something up from the floor.

Hip openers improve your range of motion and circulation and decreased back pain. Hip stretches also keep the joints and muscles in good alignment.

Yogic tradition holds the hips as a storage ground for negative feelings and unaddressed emotions. Hip-opening can create space for the birth of new ideas. Loosening the hips can create an energetic shift or release as well.

If you don’t lift heavy things, your arms and shoulders muscles will get weak.

Do you want to rely on asking someone else to pick up heavy items for you?

As I am out and about in the community, kind people will offer to help me lift items.

No thank you, I can do it. It may take a little longer and I enjoy the practice.
